In 1985, after leaving the Wentworth Institute of Technology, Edge founder John Dresser Jr, was contacted by Better Comfort Systems in Malden, Massachusetts. Owner and President of Better Comfort, Jimmy Schiavone, contracted John to design and develop a system to manage his customer base. It was then, on an ancient computer, that HVACEdge was born. With the success of his first program for Service Work Order Management, John went on to add programs for Accounts Receivable, and Customer Relations Management modules, Payables, General Ledger, Service Technician Productivity Management and Service & Maintenance Contract Management.
With the fast changing technology of the early 90’s, HVACEdge was updated and improved significantly. Based on the Edge principle of Net Profit Pricing, systems for Estimating and Pricing, Sales Management, Purchase Orders, Inventory Management and Capacity Planning and Management were created.
In the late 90’s John began to bring HVACEdge to other users. With HVAC companies from around New England and New York, using HVACEdge, John was constantly updating and improving the Edge processes. John had supported and serviced these customers as a consultant until 2016 when he was joined by his son John “Pearson” Dresser III.
Together they launched Edge Contractor Services, LLC with the aim of taking the successes of HVACEdge and deliver it to the service industry as a whole.

J. PEARSON DRESSER, III
Product Manager
With his father heavily involved in the service industries, it was only natural for Pearson to follow suit. When an HVAC company his dad was consulting for bought-out another, Pearson found himself with his first job at age 15 sorting, identifying, and brokering surplus stock acquired in the purchase. From this job, Pearson learned in very basics of the HVAC industry. This introduction became invaluable to Pearson, giving him the basis from which to grow his insight for business in future ventures. Joining the Edge team in June 2016, Pearson brings a second generation of Dressers to the business consulting industry.
